Oh Edna, perhaps if i’d known?

I don’t mean to be too harsh, Edna. For what you taught me, “I’ll not soon forget.” That is, that for a writer and a poet to succeed, a million failures are necessary. To me that is what this collection was. For sparsely there would be an ahha! poem that would speak to me through and through. And…and you were a tortured soul me thinks, self-torture, a great bore I would think to be around much. When I see the femininst poet, or the artist, and if she is melancholy and complainy and not constructing her life on the outside also if not foremost, I will see what I have been and do not like in myself and I will see Edna. And yet, as I say my dear Edna, I also found great value and what should it matter to you what I think? If can not or you would never have been able to create your greatest works. Thank you.
